Birth is perhaps one of the most painful conditions that can be seen in a life. Labor pain causes the mother to suffer unnecessarily and physiological stress as well as fatigue of the mother. That’s why , the use of pain relief techniques for birth has become very common in recent years. Painless delivery (epidural analgesia) is applied after uterine contractions become regular (after birth pains settle), when the cervix becomes thinner by approximately 60-70% and its opening reaches 4 cm, that is, when the pains start to seriously disturb the mother. Especially at this stage, it is very important for the mother to stay still for a few minutes. The catheter is a thin probe made of a soft material. When the effect of the first drug wears off, it is placed so that additional medication can be administered. The outside part of the catheter is stuck up to the shoulder with a special non-allergenic patch. Here, an intermediate medication is given as needed. This catheter is easily removed after the birth, when the mother does not have any pain.
Epidural analgesia does not make you feel dizzy, or sick, nor does it stop bowel movements or prevent gas removal. It increases your chances of a normal birth with both psychological relief and muscle spasm relief. It relieves most of your birth stress, provides relaxation and relaxation in the muscles. You feel the pains not as pain, but as pressure and contraction. You can participate in the birth by pushing simultaneously to the contractions during hatching and speed up your birth. Since you are not tired or exhausted after birth, you can hold your baby much more quickly and feed immediately.
